At Vrtec Hrastnik, children explored the fascinating world of simple machines through creative, investigative, and hands-on activities. Using real tools, toys, construction sets, and actual mechanical parts, they learned how gears, levers, pulleys, wheels and axles work and how these mechanisms make everyday tasks easier.
Children built their own models with LEGO bricks and other construction materials, tested motion and power transmission between gears, and explored real mechanical components from a car transmission system. Through this, they developed logical thinking, technical curiosity, fine motor skills, cooperation, and observational abilities.

Following the STEAM approach, the activities were enriched with art – children created colorful paintings with gear motifs and built creative structures using paper and recycled materials. They also connected their discoveries to language, mathematics, and social learning, making the learning process even more meaningful.
Through this experience, children discovered that technology is all around us – and that we can explore it with our own hands, questions, and excitement.
