Solar Energy – Children as Explorers of Light and Heat

At Vrtec Hrastnik, children became true explorers of renewable energy sources, with a special focus on solar energy. Through a variety of experiments and playful activities, they discovered how sunlight and heat influence our everyday lives.

They observed how solar panels work on solar-powered robots and garden lights, testing them under different lighting conditions and learning when the energy is most effective.

Using a special technique, they created artistic cyanotype prints, where light formed lasting images of natural materials. They also enthusiastically measured the temperature of water placed on different colored surfaces, investigating how light absorption affects heating.

These hands-on activities encouraged curiosity, observation, reasoning, and experimentation, while also helping children understand the importance of sustainability and responsible energy use from an early age.
