Discovering the Solar System – A Space Adventure for Young Explorers

ree

At Vrtec Hrastnik, children embarked on an exciting journey into the mysterious world of space, where they explored the planets of the Solar System, learned about gravity, Earth's rotation, sunlight, and the vast distances between celestial bodies. The activities were designed within the STEAM approach, using the 5E instructional model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate), which supports active, curious, and deep learning.

Children observed planet projections, created their own models of the Solar System, arranged planets by their distance from the Sun, programmed Bee-Bot robots on space-themed mats, and built space vehicles from blocks. They also participated in creative art activities, producing galactic scenes, and listened to child-friendly science stories about space.

This space learning journey sparked imagination, expanded their horizons, and encouraged a better understanding of our world – and the universe beyond. Through the STEAM approach, children developed scientific thinking, observation skills, creativity, spatial awareness, and early digital competencies.
